What is Paediatric Dentistry?
Paediatric Dentistry is a Specialty within the broader discipline of dental practice. This speciality is associated with the provision of comprehensive care for children and adolescents particularly focusing on all aspects of oral and craniofacial health and development. For some children, diagnosis of particular problems, dental or surgical management and subsequent treatment often involves a unique approach, which may not be possible within the routine scope of the family dental practitioner.
Paediatric Dentists undergo further specialised training in accredited University and Hospital facilities which equips them and their staff in establishing the necessary skill base and expertise - in providing a practice environment to carry out comprehensive management of children and adolescents in a safe, positive and predictable setting.

Dr Kareen Mekertichian established Sydney Paediatric Dental Services, based in the North Shore of Sydney, Chatswood soon after registering as a Board Qualified Specialist Paediatric Dentist. The Kids Chompers practice has continued to develop and expand since the initial set up of the surgery in 1995, with a focus on providing a totally comprehensive specialist service focusing on the oral health of children and adolescents. Our aim is to provide a "dental home" within which all aspects of paediatric dental management can be delivered to children and families inside a caring, supportive and nurturing environment.
